About the Author

I am a dad. Just a dad. Well, maybe not "just" a dad. I am a dad of a daughter with Spina Bifida and in my book, that makes me a "Super-Dad". I created (am continuing to create) this blog because I wish something like this had been around when we were pregnant and had more questions than answers.

This blog is not medical advice and, as the drug ads say, "You should always consult your physician". However, I hope this blog is an encouragement to you and your family. I have tried to describe the basic nuts and bolts of SB by sharing our experiences and the things we have learned along the way. Then I have tried to provide further resources for you to follow up on for more in-depth info.

The SB community is a remarkable one. Yes, there are dark days but that just makes the sun shine all the brighter the next day. Feel free to contact me anytime.

Blessings to you and yours.

Extras:

On a slightly more melancholy note: I first heard this song when we were pregnant and it has remained important to me. I think what I like about it is that it acknowledges pain at the same time that it refuses defeat.

I came across the next video three years after our wee-one was born. And I enjoy it for the same reason. It is the attitude I hope to instill in myself and in my daughter, who is powerful beyond measure. I hope you find encouragement in them.

Keep on keeping on. You have no idea how strong you are.

You are powerful beyond measure. You just haven't had a chance like this to show it yet . . . You SHOW THEM Mom and Dad . . .
